Its facilities are only just adequate. Hard station to find too.
Just been back to this station after all the double tracking and noticed the tremendous improvement from 3 platforms to 4 - platforms 1 & 2 are trains to/from the North - i.e. Bristol Parkway and beyond and south to Bristol temple Meads and on to Weymouth/TauntonPlatforms 3 & 4 are trains to and from Cardiff and Portsmouth arbour etc. via Bristol Temple Meads.The new layout means that it is still a long walk from the nearest road and car park and little thought given to foot access from the residential area that it servesTicket office and ticket machine is on platform 1 (MOD side) - revenue protection are there most weekday mornings from really early to just after 9, so either allow extra time to buy the ticket or have one already purchased - occasionally they are there in the eveningsBuses number 70, 71 & 73 go nearby if needed - run by first busCar parking is limited thought currently free and is run by South Gloucestershire councilThis can be easier to use than a main line station with good connections
The most recent upgrades between Bristol Temple Meads and Parkway include the doubling of the lines to 4, allowing more trains to run.It serves trains to and from Cardiff, Gloucester, Great Malvern, Bristol, Weston Super Mare, Weymouth, Taunton and Portsmouth.The 3 original platforms all have access ramps (no steps) but the new platform only has steps, which are narrower than most. The bridge connecting the platforms weaves all over the place and could take some time to move from one side to the other, depending how many people are there.Overall, it's a nice relatively tidy station with good service links.
Nice little station near bristol
A bare bones station but it has good live arrivals info and a bloke in a ticket office. Good access to the cycle path and also in easy reach of the shopping centre. Platforms have sheltered waiting areas.
